The 2018 “Chef’s Golden Hat” gala dinner and awards ceremony was a star-studded event. It was a night of excitement and glamour hosted at “Grande Bretagne Hotel” Ballroom, in the centre of Athens.

The award ceremony saw Ettore Botrini’s “Etrusco” being honored with 2 “Chef’s Golden Hats” for 6th consecutive year. This year, the restaurant received 17/20 points and the conceptual restaurant “Funky Gourmet”, which was rated 16,5/20, also received two “Chef’s Golden Hats”. Note that according to the rating method, one “Chef’s Golden Hat” is rewarded to Greek restaurants rated 15/20, 15,5/20 and 16/20, two “Golden Hats” to the establishments rated 16,5/20, 17/20, 17,5/20 and 18/20 and three “Golden Hats” to the establishments rated 18,5,/20, 19/20, 19,5/20 and 20/20.

The “Greek Cuisine Award”, which is won by restaurants and eateries that serve modern and traditional food, will take place at “Hyatt Regency Hotel” in Thessaloniki on March 20th. The criteria that will be taken into account include quality of raw materials, technique and cooking skills, harmony and balance of flavours and food presentation, to name a few.

Apart from the much-awaited glamorous ceremony, the event also featured a lavish dinner cooked by talented Greek chefs that thrive in restaurants abroad, including Thanos Feskos (“Geranium”, Copenhagen), George Papazaharias (“Maaemo”, Oslo), Michael Papafilis (“Epicure”, Paris), Philip Chronopoulos (“Restaurant du Palais Royal”, Paris) and George Kataras (“Geranium”, Copenhagen).
