Serves: 4 Prep. time: 30′ Cooks in: 10′ Ready in: 40′

50 fresh mussels, washed, cleaned
4 garlic cloves
2 cans beer
2 large onions, finely chopped
3 red chilies, finely chopped
1 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 bunch fresh basil or parsley, finely chopped
black pepper


Step 1
Heat oil in a large, deep pan on medium heat and cook onion and garlic until fragrant for 1-2 minutes.

Step 2
Add mussels, a little salt, pepper and chili, stir and pour with beer. Scatter basil, cover with lid and cook for 7 minutes until mussels open. Discard mussels that are not open. Serve in bowls with juices from the pan and crusty bread.
